Carers

Our service is open to everyone young or old. We look after people in the comfort of their own homes allowing carers to take a break.

These breaks range from a sitting service, to leisure activities.

All our are CRB Checked and we are registered and audited by:
  • The Care Quality Commission
  • Crossroads Care Association
  • Essex County Council

Who is a carer?

A carer takes over the primary responsibility in the home for the care of someone who needs continuous care due to:
  • A mental or physical illness
  • Frailty and mentally ill due to age
Carers are often the elderly looking after a spouse, are young parents of a disabled child, a middle aged person caring for a ageing parent or a young person caring for their parents.

How can we help you?

Crossroads employs and trains Carer Support Workers who are  carefully vetted and supervised. They usually work part-time and paid on an hourly basis providing respite care.

What do they do?

Carer Support Workers go into people's homes in order to relieve the main carer. They take over the work that the carer would normally do.
This includes all areas of the care of a person with disabilities as well preparing simple meals. The main carer is then free to have time for themselves.

How much help is available?

Crossroads offer regular weekly support or an occasional break. The relief care is offered at the time best suited to the family and can be during the day, evenings or at weekends.

We aim to provide regular help to prevent a breakdown in the health of the Carer occurring
