Our scheme supports children aged 8 to 18 who care for a relative with a physical learning or learning disability, mental health problem, long term illness, drug/alcohol misuse or domestic violence.  The person they care for may be a parent or  brother or sister.  They may have help with their caring role from another family member or they may be the sole carer.

With regard to caring for someone with a mental health problem it can be the impact this has on a child's life. We run drop in sessions which provide young with a break from their caring and give them the opportunity to meet other young carers.  We provide fun and educational , trips out and advice and information.

We can access the Young Carer Direct Support Fund for respite breaks or personal development opportunities for example school holidays, musical instruments, sports equipment.
